In order to consume the recommended amount of fish oil, one should eat at least three servings of a naturally oily fish weekly, in addition to supplementing roughly 500mg of EPA & DHA. If one is relying solely on supplementation to get their omega-3, then a daily supplement with at least 900mg of EPA and DHA is sufficient, but the more the better.

WHERE DO OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS COME FROM?

Omega-3 fatty acids are naturally found in the oil of cold-water fish (anchovy, sardines, mackerel, salmon, etc...). Other omega-3 fatty acids can be extracted from certain types of algae or extracted from krill and other small crustaceans.
